The Ahfad University for Women (AUW) has six undergraduate
schools each of which confers a Bc.S. or BA. after five years
of study. They are listed below in their order of establishment.
TheSchool
of Family Sciences, which focuses on preparing
graduates to work as nutritionists with mothers and in children’s
wards of hospitals, in child and maternal health centres, and
in conducting national surveys and related research.
The School
of Psychology and Pre-School Education, provides
preparation for careers in many areas of psychology, teaching
English as a second language, or in the field of early child
development and education.
The School
of Management Studies, which prepares students
to become office managers and management staff in private organizations
and government bodies.
The School
of Rural Extension Education and Development (REED,
whose graduates become extension and community development workers
for government ministries and who work with women’s organizations
at the grassroots level in rural areas.
The School of Medicine, which prepares young women to become
community health specialists with dedication to the promotion
of human health.
TheSchool
of Pharmacy, with a wide knowledge and understanding
of the sciences, technologies and practices related to pharmacy,
graduates are prepared to register as pharmacists and to build
careers in any branch of the many branches of pharmacy
In addition, AUW offers two
graduate programs which confers a Master's Degree. These are in
